NSA Opening ceremony of the academic 2010/2011

The new academic year at the National Sports Academy began with a ceremony on the 15th of September.

In his welcome speech Prof. Dimitrov, the Rector of NSA pointed out the success of the last students’ admission campaign and underlined that NSA was amongst the few higher schools in Bulgaria where the competition between applicants was significant.

The number of students admitted after having passed their examinations successfully is 685. The high level of the lecturers’ qualification, more than a half of who have acquired the academic ranks Associated Professor and Full Professor, ensures the overall quality of education at the academy.

Official guests at the ceremony were: Svilen Neikov, Minister of Physical Education and Sports, Lazar Kamenov, Vice Minister of Physical Education and Sports, Dimitar Dilchev, Mayor of Studentski District, Maria Fartunova, Director of Directorate of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science, Belcho Goranov, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.

Minister Neikov put the stress on the achievements of nearly 30 Bulgarian athletes who recently won gold and silver medals in European and World competitions. The minister appraised the contribution of NSA to their success, because the athletes have underwent their training at the academy’s facilities.

The Rector handed out the students’ books to the students who have achieved the highest marks in the entry exams. Lora Philipova, who was the first in the list of enrolled students with the highest mark/23.80/, was awarded a plaque by the Minister of Physical Education and Sports.
