The Rector of NSA presented awards at the “Mayor of the Year” ceremony

The Rector of the National Sports Academy, Prof. Krassimir Petkov, presented the awards in the category „Sports and Youth Policies“ at the 13th edition of the national competition „Mayor of the Year“ 2025, held on October 7.

The award for successfully implemented policies in the field of sports and youth was granted to Eng. Vladimir Alexandrov, Mayor of Etropole, and Stanislav Dechev, Mayor of Haskovo. In his thank-you speech, Eng. Alexandrov expressed his gratitude to the NSA „Vasil Levski“ for its support of the sports and youth activities of the Municipality of Etropole.

The mayors of Ivaylovgrad – Diana Ovcharova (small municipality), Tundzha – Stancho Stavrev (medium municipality), and Yambol – Valentin Revanski (large municipality) received the grand „Mayor of the Year“ awards for 2025. The certificates were presented by Vice President Iliana Yotova.

Among the official guests of the event was also the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the NSA „Vasil Levski“, Assoc. Prof. Hristo Andonov.

This year’s ceremony also recognized mayors in several other categories: Mayor of the Citizens, Urban Environment, Smart City, Tourism and Culture, and Investments and Growth.

The unique national competition, which evaluates the work of local authorities through citizen voting, is organized by the national information website Kmeta.bg. A total of 265 municipal mayors from across the country participated in the competition. The voting was conducted online on the platform kmetnagodinata.bg.
