NSA Hosts Forum on Income Policy in Higher Education and Science

On October 23, a fifth forum dedicated to higher education and science was held at the National Sports Academy, with the participation of nationally representative trade unions, rectors of state universities that have trade union organizations and signed collective labor agreements, to coordinate the parameters of the budget for 2025, income policies, and quality criteria such as assessment, results, and expectations.

The forum was organized by VON-CITUB and SWO-Support, with the kind hosting of the rector of NSA "Vasil Levski", Prof. Krasimir Petkov.

Special participation included Galin Tsokov - Minister of Education and Science, Acad. Nikolai Vitanov - Deputy Minister of Education and Science; Lyubomir Yosifov - Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science, Sonya Krastanova – Director of the Finance Directorate - Ministry of Education and Science, Chief Assistant Dr. Lyuboslav Kostov – Chief Economist of CITUB, Atanas Katsarchev - Chief Economist of KT "Support", Angel Stoykov - Chairman of NPSS, rectors and vice-rectors of state universities from Sofia and the country, chairmen of the nationally representative trade unions VON-CITUB and SWO-Support. This highlighted the significance of the discussion and the role of partners in social dialogue.

At the event from NSA "Vasil Levski", besides Rector Prof. Krasimir Petkov, also participated the Vice Rectors Assoc. Prof. Hristo Andonov (for academic affairs) Prof. Ognyan Miladinov (for scientific and international activities), Prof. Nikolai Izov – Assistant Rector, the leadership of the Trade Union Organization of VON-CITUB for the Academy - Assoc. Prof. Petar Yankov (Chairman) and Valentin Dobrev (Vice-Chairman).

The topics of discussion were: Positive trends in income and evaluation policy; Funding considering reforms on quality criteria and achieved results; Expectations for the 2025 budget for state universities. The forum was extremely productive, showcasing the results achieved, and well-argued positions were expressed on each topic.
