Milko Kazanov Donates His Olympic Medal to NSA

Milko Kazanov donated his bronze Olympic medal to the National Sports Academy, won in the 1000-meter double kayak event at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.

The valuable donation was personally presented by Milko Kazanov during a class on the history of physical education and sports with first-year students from the Faculty of Sport. The Olympic medal was received by Assoc. Prof. Emilia Vitanova and Ass. Vanya Yordanova from the team of the Educational and Olympic Center of NSA and will be displayed in the museum collection.

Milko Kazanov is a canoe-kayak athlete and later a coach, an alumnus of the National Sports Academy. He won a bronze medal at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games, as well as in the 1000-meter quadruple kayak event at the World Championship in Seville in 2002. He is the father of gymnast Lyubomira Kazanova, also a bronze Olympic medalist with the Bulgarian artistic gymnastics team.
