The National Sports Academy is celebrating its 70-th Anniversary

In 2012 the National Sports Academy (NSA) will be celebrating its 70th anniversary. The Academy was founded in 1942 as a National Higher School of Physical Education.

Throughout its rich history the Academy has always been the pillar in the structure of Bulgarian education and science in the field of physical culture and sport. The list of NSA’s prominent educators, researchers, trainers, coaches and athletes is significantly long. These people have made remarkable contributions not only to the implementation of the Academy’s mission but to the realization of socially responsible goals as well. Nowadays, we are proud and honoured to continue their achievements.

The Organizing Committee is planning a variety of events to celebrate the jubilee. Among them are sporting and scientific events, Gala Performance, meetings, exhibitions etc.

Among them are two international congresses - XVI Congress “Olympic Sport and Sport for All” and the VI Congress “Sport, Stress, Adaptation”. The forums will be held at NSA on 17-19 May, 2012, under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. Detailed information could be found at the official website of the congresses:

The culmination of the celebration will be the Gala Performance in which Bulgarian champions will participate along with Academy’s students and alumni. It will take place on 18 May 2012 in the larges hall of the National Palace of Culture, Sofia.

In addition to the 70th anniversary celebrations the Academy is hosting students’ tournaments, organized in co-operation with Sofia Municipality’s Department of Prevention, Integration, Sport and Tourism.
